Sheri went to see "the boys" yesterday. "Al" thought she was one of his sisters. Blessing is at least "they" thought "family".

Sheri went to see the boys this weekend. "Al" knew Sheri looked familiar but was not sure why. Sheri is slowly accepting that Bob 's safety is more important than Sheri's name.

"Al" out did himself yesterday at "work" (code for Adult Day Center) . Bob had just existed the restroom and as Sheri and one of Bob's "employee's" were trying to get his coat on him to go home, "Al" leaned over and lifted up his pant leg to release a stashed domino... which also released three more stashed domino's and a pretty yellow marker. :)

"Al" has entered a stage she has not heard  much about. Sheri thinks she will call it the destructive stage. Everything Bob touches "Al" try's to tear apart, either with Bobs hands or with Bob's mouth. This is placing new parameters around what she can do to keep "them" active and engaged. He no longer recognizes objects so even Sheri's laptop has been fair game. Sheri is a problem solver by nature so ...game on. :)

Dear Bob,

Please see what you can do to remind "Al" that the commode is the smaller of the two fixtures that hold liquid in the bathroom. Thanks so much.

Sheri is happy Bob can still enjoy his music, and that he has the coordination to keep time to the music. There is however a teensy weensy part of Sheri that wishes "Al" did not need to "enjoy" it all day every day, as you can see in the video it can get pretty intense :)

Sheri thinks she is feeling better, well better than she sounds. Her ears are still plugged, but at least it is drowning out the sound of "Al's" constant banging with his nuts and bolts on his tray. :)

Sheri is very tired of being sick. The doctor added sinus infection to the illness list with the virus . She has been doing all the home remedies for the virus but to no avail. At least they gave her medicines for the sinus part. Sheri hates being a sick caregiver.

Sometimes the funniest things happen. "Al" was on his way to the bathroom... the long way around through the kitchen. Bob walked back to the living room mumbling something and Sheri said "I am sorry I did not hear what you said." Bob spoke again this time clear as day " do you want to take a picture? There is a frog on the wall." Sheri said "do you mean a fly?" "Al" very nonchalantly  repeated "no a frog" as he sat back down in his chair. Sheri chuckled to herself and thought poor man,  so confused. Sheri went to see what he talking about, imagine her surprise when she looked at the wall in the kitchen and low and behold there was a frog!"
 Now, how a frog got on the kitchen wall I have no idea, but it was unusual enough that even "Al" noticed :)

Daughter Number One (the one who wears her heart on her sleeve)  was so very helpful this weekend and took Bob and "Al" for several hours so Sheri could recharge. Sheri has come to realize that she uses work as an escape from her reality, and when work is in turmoil, her mind  has no resting place so dealing with "Al" is much more difficult. Thank you Daughter Number One you are a blessing indeed.

Sheri went out an about yesterday with "the boys". Taking pictures of the birds and nature helps calm her. Bob and "Al" whistled and slapped the day away, (no music needed) so all things considered ... not a bad day :)
God is good.

Sheri needs to make a note to self, keep door alarm set even during the day... "Al" over shot the bathroom by about 10 steps. :(

Bob has been very frustrated at "work" (code for Adult Day Center) again. "Al" told Sheri, with Bob's jaw clenched tight  that " His people need a class in initiative. "  :)

Sometimes Sheri is so confused by this disease. When Sheri picked Bob up from "work" (code for Adult Day Center) yestersday, "Al" could not make any sense of Bob's thoughts. The words "Al" spoke were real, but not words that went together. Bob ofcourse did not realize he was not making any sense and was frustrated that Sheri was not responding. However when they got home, things seemed to improve slightly, what a very strange disease. :(

Sheri realizes Bob has lost his sense of self. As Bob looks around the working world he once was viable  part of, "Al" searches for who Bob was. Yesterday at the park "Al" though Bob had been the ice cream man. :)

Sheri knows God has a plan for her life. For many years she has hoped this was not it. Recently she changed her thought process from "please let this not be the plan", to realizing that "this may very well be the plan..." and it is okay.

Sheri needs to convince Bob to convince "Al" that bobby pins do not belong attached to Bob's undies. :)

Zoey the cat, loves helping Bob with his beads."Al" says the cat is helping him pick out which color to use. :)

Bob heard the birds chirping away out side the bedroom window. "Al" with concern in his voice asked "Do you think that means they are hungry?"

Sheri is remembering a time when Bob was able to be left alone at home, but the early signs that leaving "Al" home alone with power tools was not a good idea. Below is her post from August 2010 :)

So he and "Al' did some
countertop remodeling
Hmm......


Well, Sheri is  not quite sure "they" accomplished the objective!
