This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri does not know if it is the disease or something else, but Bob has not been able to evaluate his own needs in years. So when out of the blue last night Bob sat up in bed and firmly declared he needed a drink of water, Sheri was shocked, having only heard him make a statement like that maybe 2 times in five years.(weird I know.) When he then began to get out of bed, and hobble down the hallway Sheri was even more shocked and for split second though to herself "wow he is having a moment of clarity" but then she realized Bob was not going to be able to find the glasses in the kitchen so she tip toed down the hall to see how he was doing. As she expected Bob could not find the glasses in the kitchen, but mostly because he could not locate the kitchen, Sheri found "Al" in the bathroom looking behind the shower curtain, when Sheri asked him what he was doing, "Al" replied " I was going to get a drink of water" then waving his pointer finger back and forth at the shower curtain said "but I don't know what is going on here with this."  :)
Heavy sigh, well it was a water source right?
