This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri and Daughter Number One (the one who wears her heart on her sleeve) were decorating the tree last night. Sheri was trying to involve Bob so she handed him a basket, some ornaments and hooks, she asked him to just put the hooks on the ornaments for her. It only took seconds before "Al" lost the big picture of what he was doing and why, as he began hooking the ornaments and hooks to everything and each other, and then removing them from the ornaments again. Sheri just took a deep breathe, there was no contest to get this done. She just kept thinking to herself  "simple pleasures Sheri... simple pleasures.  :)
