This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

A couple of days ago, Sheri took the cat food out of the freezer ( the one she found several days ago that mysteriously appeared there, Meeko the cat is not fond of frozen food.) and set it on the counter to defrost. Sheri walked to the back of the house to change clothes, and when she came back to the kitchen her heart started racing in fear. Bob was standing at the gas stove. "Al" had picked up the very small ceramic cup he had put the cat food in when he put it in the freezer, and had turned on the gas burner and had put the little dish right on the gas burner and was stirring the cat food with a spoon, flames dancing about, EEK. It is so easy to forget how much his judgment is impaired. Sheri made the right decision to have him in Day Care. She is grateful for the care they give him. Thank you Open Circle!
