One thing Bob and "Al" can still do is sing. Singing was a big part of his life growing up. Bob was one of 10 children, and their player piano was one of the staple forms of entertainment for a family that size. Yesterday at church even though Sheri knew he was in a lot of pain with his back and knee, Bob was singing loud and strong to praise songs very familiar to him. He has a very deep voice that has changed quite a bit over the last year or so but never the less a very deep strong voice. Sheri was overcome with tears as she heard him singing one of the hymn type songs as she suddenly had a fear of not hearing that deep voice some day. Sheri needs to cherish each and every moment of every day.
Isaiah 40:31 - "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint."
This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.
