Sheri looks at Bob and sees the man she married, fathered her children and spent 28 years of her life with. Then "Al" emerges and when he speaks... Bob disappears into the shadow of Alzheimer's.

Sheri has to say that as overwhelmed and terrified of how the "boys" would do with placement as she was, watching him on his birthday assures Sheri it was the right thing to do, and the right place too. "Al" is so very content. He is truly living in the moment and in that moment he is happy. The care team there loves "them" and  everyone in the building knows his name. As they walked around people wished him happy birthday and it was a new discovery of that fact each time they said it. He saluted proudly saying thank you, thank you, and Sheri could hear the workers chatting about how very sweet "Al" is. Sheri is trying hard to come to peace with this lifestyle change but the rhythm of her life is not quite smooth yet. So Sheri will continue to work on remembering all the blessings in her life, her beautiful family and church family and pause, praise and pray.

Sheri tries hard to give others a glimpse of why Alzheimer's is so much more than memory loss. The things she can't show, are things like trying to explain that the music making from yesterdays video, happens all day long, and if it is not with his nuts and bolts it is with anything in his hands. Of course she is grateful Bob still has enough coordination to do that, she has had to be a bit creative herself and has found that her headphones and some hymns playing through her phone help drown out the constant banging of "Al"s music. :)

Bob was unhappy last week at "work" code for Adult Day Center. Apparently the wrong employees were singing at the piano, and "Al" was not having any of it :)
