This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri stepped way outside her comfort zone last night. She found out several months ago that Bob and "Al"s favorite Irish singer Daniel O'Donnell was going to be in town, so Sheri just knew she had to get Bob in to see him. (After all , "Al" toured with him years ago or so he thinks). Truth be told Daughters number one and two drove them downtown, because among other reasons Sheri has bronchitis (as it turns out) and she did not feel well enough to tackle downtown traffic. Anyway, what a grand time they had. There were thousands of people there, the kind of crowds Sheri avoids at all costs (her anxiety gets the best of her.) But in 25 years of marriage they have never done anything like this. Bob really enjoyed himself, clapping and singing. Sheri enjoyed seeing him so happy. Hopefully "they" will remember when they wake up this morning. But if not it was a moment in time, and that will have to do. :)
