This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Bob can't remember when he was at "work" (code for Adult Day Center) last. He is very worried that he will lose his place in the choir since he has been gone for so very long. Sheri knows better than to try explain it was just the weekend that he has been gone. To an Alzheimer victim, a day is like a lifetime ago. Sheri wishes this did not cause him so much anxiety.
Sheri hates this disease.

  1. I think it IS universally true in the dementia world - "a day IS like a lifetime". There is NO point in reassuring Mother that Dad ate lunch with her yesterday just as he has for the last 7-8 months...she is certain he "never comes".
