This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Well.... Bob has decided that his new "employee's " are not doing their job. The aids had to call down the nurse for what she politely called a "supervisory issue". EEK.

  1. This brings back memories. You will feel like the mother of the troublemaker kid in class. The staff will complain to you, as if you could do anything about the behavior! They are used to elderly, mostly immobile patients and a young, mobile patient is a challenge and clearly more work. Compliment the staff, get to know them, and show them the clever strategies you developed to manage "the boys." It's a learning curve for everyone. There may be lots of meetings with admin. Stay strong, Sheri. You are now an advocate/campaign director. New territory here, as if you didn't already know that!
