This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.

Living with Bob and "Al"

For "Al's" level of cognitive impairment, Bob is still quite mobile. Other's in the Memory Care facility... are not. Although "the boys" seem to be adjusting well, "Al" is giving the staff a run for their money as "they" are into everything. There was a large thousands of piece puzzle out on a table (which honestly, NO ONE there can do) "Al" in his helpfulness took pieces of the puzzle and laid them at every place setting in the dinning room. which would have probably been ok if he also had not collected most of the place mats and stashed them in Bob's room. Sheri on the other hand, was just grateful they were not "stashed in "Al's" usual places. :)
