This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

In Sheri's never ending quest to find something to help keep Bob engaged, she tried a suggestion from a friend to have "Al" sort coins in to a muffin tin. Unfortunately, that skill has come and gone, however Bob did decide that the coins needed to cleaned so Sheri gave him an old toothbrush and let him go to town. The toothbrush did not last long though because "Al" had his own idea of how to clean them  and "they"spent the next hour rubbing two coins together. One of the hardest parts of this disease is letting go of old expectations and meeting them where they are. :)
