Sheri had a bit of a scare last night. Bob was in bed but looked distressed. No one else would have been able to tell, Sheri asked him if something was wrong, he wrenched is neck up towards the headboard, but did not answer. Sheri knows that "Al" can not self assess. She starts asking carefully crafted questions design for a yes or no answer, but nothing. Sheri started to panic as Bob started pointing and tapping on his chest. "Al" can not tell Sheri anything. Bob sat up in bed ... "Al" shaking his head from side to side, tapping on his chest. In that whole 3 minute time frame that felt like an hour, terrible things were running thorough her head, is it a heart attack? A stroke? Should she call 911? She knows a trip to the hospital is a bad thing for "Al" how long should she wait to decide. Just as she was reaching for the phone a huge sound comes out of Bob's mouth and it turned out that the crisis was really Bob and "Al" needing to ..... burp.
Sheri hates this disease.

Oh, Sheri how scary for you.....I am very happy that it was only a burp! 😄.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine your terror. Its awful when they cannot express what they need too. I'll bet a burp never sounded so sweet.
ReplyDeleteMy Mum was telling me "it hurts" when I was brushing her teeth. I thought I was hurting her mouth, and asked her to point to where it hurt (she pointed to my mouth) About 30 seconds later, I discovered that it wasn't her mouth at all that was sore, it was her tummy and I had a big exploding number 2 mess to clean up
