This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri has learned this disease consumes your life, Much like when you have young kids and  you fall into the trap of letting your kids become the focus of every conversation and everything you do, you often long for adult interaction at the end of the day. Professional marriage counselors will advise you to make time to be a "couple" so your marriage will still be there when the kids are grown. There lies the problem. Sheri has realized she has very little to say that does not revolve around Bob and "Al". Most of the time she knows very little about what is happening in the world around her. Between working full time and caring for Bob and "Al", at the end of the day not only is there no time for adult interaction or time to be a "couple"... Alzheimer's has made certain that there is no "couple".
Sheri hates this disease.
