This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri can tell now that Bob thoughts  often come out of "Al's" mouth in an order that frustrates Bob. Trying to understand what Bob actually means... means Sheri needs to learn a new skill. You see she has decided that care giving really means care understanding and adapting. Sheri just needs to keep adapting to the changes she sees because "Al" can't see them.
She just needs to have the sensibility and the flexibility to keep adjusting the "plan."

  1. Sheri, You and I are on an almost identical thought path - only mine is with my mother; yours with a spouse. That makes the emotional adjustment very different, I'm sure.

  2. There are many times I feel like we are playing word Jumble here too. Fustrating for Bob for sure and also one of the reasons I think he is getting more and more quiet.
    Hugz!
