This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Bob is struggling with the zipper on his lightweight jacket. Bob did not realize that "Al" put Bob's jacket on UPSIDE down.

  1. Did you find that in the earlier stages of AD that one minute your husband would sound and "act" perfectly normal and then something would pop up to remind you? My husband put a new electric grill together the other day but couldn't remember Richard Nixon's name when he saw his picture on TV.

    1. Sandy, Yes these types of things were common. It is why in the beginning it is so hard to believe he has the disease, because it affects such random parts of the brain. :(

  2. Yes! Random parts of the brain - therefore unexpected and random behavior...
