This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri made a last minute decision to go to Texas for her father's 80th birthday. Short of the quick trip home to Texas when her mother was in a senseless car accident that left her paralyzed several years ago, she had not been home in 10 years. Daughters one and two willing took on the task of caring for Bob and "Al" for the weekend. Sheri is amazed at their maturity, at 21 and 23. Diseases like Alzheimer's force children to grow up fast. Sheri was blessed to be able to go. She learned many things on her trip, but most of all she was reminded that life is passing  quickly, and each day is day she is losing to fear, worry and anxiety. She needs to make some changes to not allow her life to escape her. She needs to take one day at time, just one day at a time.

  1. I am so glad you were able to go! Your dad looks fabulous for 80! So sad that your Mom was paralyzed due to a senseless act! So nice of your daughters to help you so you were able to make this trip.
