This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri chose a place to go yesterday, Winona, MN. She really had to get out of her comfort zone because it was about 2 and a half hours from home. She actually had some what of a panic attack about half way there. the what if's set in, you know what if the car breaks down, what if she gets in an accident, what if she gets a migraine (and those are the what if's about her not even the ones about Bob and "Al.") Ok, Sheri may have just a touch of anxiety :) Anyway the trip went fairly well. Most of it in silence as normal. But it gave Sheri a chance to clear her head with out feeling like she needed to entertain Bob. Sheri packed a lunch and some snacks in a bag so they would not have to spend any money on food and brought drinks and so forth. The only glitch in the plan was that they stopped for gas once and "Al" mentioned he threw the banana peels away, Sheri said "Oh, thank you" she was quite surprised and pleased that Bob thought to do that. Until an hour and a half later when  they stopped for lunch, and the bag was no where to be found. "Al" had thrown  away lunch at the gas station... with the banana peels... that one was not even one her list of what if's :)
Ah... the best laid plans
