This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Bob must have been having a flashback to a different time. While watching American Idol last night he asked Sheri what time all the TV shows go off. Sheri did not know quite what he meant, so she said "when we turn it off." "Al's response was "Oh I didn't know that."  :)

Recently I saw an article about "round the clock TV". In it they talked to people from mine and Bob's generation who told of watching what were called "test patterns" or "sign off screens" before the kiddie programs came on in the morning. Also, remembering when most stations had an "evening devotional reading" from the bible or a religious person saying prayers before the station signed off at midnight. Bob and I would have seen those during our times in high school in PA.

  2. Jim, that is what I thought he was remembering, but I could not remember what it was called. "Al" seems to be spending more time in that period of his life.
