This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Bob and "Al" are sharing space
"Al" is never quite sure
of the time and place.

Bob wants to help
as much as he can
Bob still wants to know the plan.

"Al" is hungry and he wants to eat
But Bob can no longer see his feet.

Bob wants Sheri always around
But Sheri has lost herself
and she can not be found.

"Al" has been everywhere
and done everything
But Sheri's gone nowhere
but the land of care-giving.

Sheri married one man
many years ago
but "Al" took him away
leaving only a shadow.

But the day is new
and she will start over again
with her husband Bob
and his live in friend.

  1. Huge hug to you both Sheri.
You are incredibly brave and a leader in care giving, an inspiration to many others. That may not feel like the title you wanted, it is a fact though and I am very proud to have a connection to you.
    Warmly - Jayne
