Sheri has a dear friend from her small group bible study. Her husband passed away late last week, from Alzheimer's. Sheri is not sure if it is because she knows this is the way it will ultimately end for Bob or "Al", or if it is just recognizing in general that in this journey we are on, this thing called life, we really are all caretakers in one way or another. The only thing that really matters in Sheri's opinion is if she found a way to reach in to another persons life, in some small way. To see the pain that even the most pompous of others are going through and touch them through kindness.
Sheri's heart hurts.
This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Sheri,
ReplyDeleteYou have a loving heart. Take care of yourself.
Hi Sherri. I wanted to let you know how much your blog means to me. I get to work early every morning so I can log in and read your blog. My husband was diagnosed with Alzheimers two years ago,at the age of 60. But as you have done, I can also see the signs years before that. When I read your blog it just helps me to feel I am not in this alone. I see humor, hope, compassion, sadness, and faith. You encourage my faith and let me see it is possible to cope, hard and often sad, but possible. Thank you for taking the time to do this, and thank you for letting us share in your journey. Much love and prayers. Sue
ReplyDeleteSue,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your very kind words and for followng our journey. I am so sorry you have begun this journey as well. We need each other, I need to know you are out reading, and if I can help make you feel less alone when you read my journey, then I know this has a purpose. Hugs to you.
