This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri is thinking maybe there is something to this living one day or one moment at a time, the way Bob and "Al" do. Bob seems happier now than he has in his entire life. He has no worries, no problems, no thoughts of what the future holds. He is totally dependent on Sheri, and Sheri... is totally dependent on God.

  1. So true...the time I spend with Mom is lived fully present. Frustrations are short lived simply because she can't hang onto any negative emotions, even if she tried. Thank you for your blog Sheri. Love to you.

  2. Yea, the same for me, Emily and Sheri. My Mom could be totally unruly and calling me names one minute and hugging my neck the next.

If I was calm and unflustered, so was she.

Your attitude is a blessing to both of you, Sheri...

    Best, Sandy

  3. That's something to hang on to Sheri - that he is the happiest he's been! Such different realities we have from our loved ones with this disease.
