This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri feels bad for daughters number 1 and 2. Tonight after daughter number one had been sitting in the living room with Sheri and Bob for an hour or more, daughter number one goes to her room. A little bit later " Al" walks by the bedroom and says to daughter number one with confusion in his voice "when did you get home?" daughter number one replies "a while ago Daddy." "Oh," " Al" replies " I did not see you come in."
This is such a sad disease.

  1. Thanks for becoming a follower of my blog Sheri. I read somewhere that the reason for this kind of comment is the person's memory is coming from the place where it was laid down when they were that age themselves (i.e., at the time when your daughter was the age for a comment like that). This might help your children understand the comment, though I don't think this is a consistent thing as function seems to vary so much. I agree that it is so often sad. ;)
