This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

Daughter number 1 (the one who wears her heart on her sleeve) moved back in with Sheri and Bob after quite an emotional journey. She is struggling being at home. She has been gone a while and seeing the changes in Bob and "Al" is very difficult. "Al" is back to making continual noises that Sheri has become used to, but they bother Daughter number 1  immensely. It is so hard for others outside the family, to understand how this disease affects immediate family. Especially when the victim is your father and the image you have of him has faded.
Sheri hates this disease.

  1. So true, I often say that people are well intended and they think they understand what we are going through, yet until you live with it 24/7 - you don't truly grasp the impact on the individual family members.
