This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character"Al" that I created in 2008 represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Bob was with Sheri all day yesterday, but "Al" kept insisting it was time to go home and that his wife would be picking him up soon. So after some distraction techniques did not work, she bundled him up with his coat, put him in the car drove around a few minutes and brought him back, and said with great excitement in her voice "Were home!" "Al" said Oh thank you, it was a long day." Sheri thought to herself... yes, and it is going to be an even longer winter." :)
Heavy sigh....

  1. Sheri this reminds me of one time when I had to actually go out and "look" for myself because hubby was fretting about where his wife (me) was...he kept saying to me I don't know where she is, her purse is here but she isn't...I know exactly what you mean and how hard it is to see the progression in our loved ones...You're doing an amazing job of looking after Bob/Al and I always look forward to reading how the three of you are doing...Tanis
