This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Because Sheri has been sick, she struggled to find things for Bob and "Al" to do this past weekend. Sheri had a thought as she saw the dirt building up on the player piano keys. Bob was antsy wanting to know "the plan" so she got a bowl of milk and some q-tips and sat Bob in front of the piano keys and asked him if he would "help" Sheri by cleaning the keys, after all she thought to herself, this is the way Bob's Mother always insisted they clean them. Well the key cleaning lasted about 15 seconds and then "Al" decided the bowl the milk was in need of a lot of work. "They" spent the next hour cleaning the bowl, over and over again. Sheri has to remember it is the idea of "them" helping not whether they achieve the goal. :)
