This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

If Sheri were honest, she would tell you she often envy's the other couples her age she sees walking hand in hand, or leaning in close at restaurants. She knows it is not right, but she is only human.  But then again MAYBE they are holding hands to keep the other from wandering off, and MAYBE they are leaning to close to check to see if their "Al" needs to use the restroom (but with a really big smile on their face.) See... Sheri feels better already. Well honestly not quite yet, but she is hoping the power of positive thinking will take over soon. :)

Proverbs 14:30

A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot.

  1. Yes it's true. I envy and am even jealous of those people walking hand in hand, in my mind as much in love as I am with my wife. Something I will most likely never experience or feel again. Like you I hate this disease.
