This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sometimes Sheri sits and studies Bob's face
Looking for signs of Bob, but can't find even a trace.

She is looking for the man confident and sure
The man that was honest, hard working and pure.

The man that brought her roses, one at a time
The man with a big heart, gentle and kind.

Sheri has to look very deep into "Al's" eyes
To see Bob's reflection in "Al"s confused smile.

2 Corinthians 4:16
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.

  1. Poetry is such good therapy, nice job here. I know it's hard, hang in there and keep searching for signs of that man you love.
