This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Since sequencing is one of "Al's" biggest struggles, finding things that Bob can do that are one step process is difficult. It is why the pencil sharpener was such a success. All "Al" had to do was insert the pencil in the hole the machine did the rest, and yet Bob felt he was accomplishing something. Now Sheri needs to figure out what to do with the 100 or so pencils she will have by the end of the week, although she supposes she could break the lead and let "Al" start all over again :)
