This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

I get it. I also feel like no one else does. David is shrinking from the inside out. There are days when it us hard for me to breathe.

DeleteI used to get the same comment. They never looked into his vacant eyes, I guess. His journey ended two years ago. Your column is so right on. I read it daily.
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading, I am so sorry about your loved one.
ReplyDeleteThis is SO true. In fact, I just posted a photo of my mother on facebook in which she is smiling. It really IS a rare photo. The fact is, I was showing her herself on my cell phone after applying lipstick to her lips. She was looking at herself - didn't know it was herself. She thinks she's her mother. Looks ARE deceiving!
