This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri was reminiscing about a time many, many years ago, when she tried so hard to get Bob to express  his love for her. She would say "Bob why won't you talk to me? Say something.. anything." But nothing, the more she asked the more distant and nervous Bob would get. She even tried just being direct "Bob, I need you to hug me every day, tell me you love me once a week or once a month." Nothing. It was crushingly hurtful. The distance between them grew to the point that Dr Phil could not have touched this pain, and as it turned out he could not have helped it either.

  1. My heart broke in exactly the same way for the same reasons. I still cry when I think about it too much.
