This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Bob's work (Code for Adult Day Center) did their version of the "Academy Awards" yesterday. Bob won "Best Supporting Colleague" (how fun is that!). He was thrilled beyond words, as soon as one of the staff reminded him of the award of course. He held it in his hand like are rare gem all the way home. It was printed on a paper that had gold and silver stars kind of embossed all over it. "Al" stared at it for a long time and then stretching out his back in his usual way, stated in a very proud voice "Wow they really must think a lot of me, to take the time to put each one of those little stars on this paper, that takes a lot of time." "I'll betcha that was Stuey, I really do a lot for him, I don't think anyone else would use that terminology "colleague"  :)
Thank you Open Circle in Hopkins  we love you!

  4. Oh wow that is sweet! It's great that the Adult Day Care Center thought of that. It helps our seniors feel good about themselves.
