This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri is hoping for a stress free week at work. Friday will have enough stress of it's own. She and a dear friend from church will start looking at Memory Care places for Bob and "Al". Sheri doesn't think he needs one now, most of the time she can manage, but she keeps hearing from multiple sources to be prepared, because waiting lists are long. Being prepared however, has never been her strong suite so she is trying to change her ways for the sake of Bob, "Al" and her daughters. Sheri has to remember that Bob and "Al" are really only one fall away.... from needing to be away from home.  :(

Proverbs 15:22
Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.

  1. I have tried to look to be prepared for the future, but it was very hard emotionally. I am glad you have a friend going with you. I will be praying for you.
