This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Well the verdict was Bob needs hearing aids,. Bob's reaction was no way, he says he has selective hearing. But then Sheri reminded "Al" that he sings at the choir at "work" (Code for adult day center) and that he needs to be able to hear all the notes on the piano... Bob and "Al" are all in.   :)

I got mine about 2 years ago but needed them much before that. Mine are behind the ear with little tubes that fit over top and curl into the ear. They require batteries about once a week but I wear them from the time I get up until I go to bed. You have to be careful about getting them wet or dropping them and most are pretty expensive. I don't know how Al will handle them but Bob probably needs the music.

    1. Jim, those are the kind they said Bob needs. I am not quite sure how that will all work out either! Thanks for sharing all your thoughts with me. :)

  2. Sheri, you were wise to choose something that is so important to Bob that he was willing to go along with hearing aids. I know he loves his music at "work".

  4. Hi Sheri,

We are doing better. Even my son said last night that dad seems so much better. I think it's because he has had 2 shots in his hip that numbed for a while. Then last Friday he had an injection that burns the nerves in his hip. He said he feels better than he has in a long time. Also has put on some weight. It seems to help clear up a lot of confusion. So I am knocking on wood and hoping this will last a long time. This has been going on for the last 3 months. That's where we have been. Thanks so much for asking.
