This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Bob got very frustrated when Sheri stopped him from eating for third time last evening. He of course does not cook, but he is somewhat able to make himself a sandwich, so after he had eaten the dinner she had cooked and then an hour later made himself 2 bagel sandwiches and then began again a half hour later to make 2 more sandwiches, Sheri just politely said  "well Bob, you have already eaten blah..blah..blah tonight." "Al" looked over at her, hobbled out of the kitchen whistling, left the toast in the toaster and the bologna on the counter and went to bed. Bob whistles constantly, happy, sad, mad, or tired, so the fact that he was whistling was not a sign that he was okay with Sheri's prompting to stop eating, Sheri knows this because his jaw was clenched tight to one side (the only real sign of anger she has ever seen in him) even as he was whistling Amazing Grace.
What a very strange disease.
