This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

For Bob's birthday in March Sheri broke down and got him a digital watch, since he was no longer able to read a regular watch correctly. She put off doing it for as long as she could, which was more about her then him. For some reason it felt like another step further into the destruction of this disease and Sheri did not want to be there quite yet... selfish she is, just plain selfish, and now yesterday "Al" could not read the digital watch either. Sheri hates this disease.

  1. Selfish? Not the word I would use to describe you, Sheri. Loving, giving, caring, hurting... those fit better.

Waiting to give the watch,to me, is trying to protect yourself from the pain of seeing this awful disease progress.

My heart hurts with you today.
