This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"
Sheri is glad Bob is talking more, more than he ever has in his 23 years married to Sheri. It is interesting how far his processing and reasoning skills have declined. Sheri and Bob pulled in the mall yesterday. Up close by the front door of course are the handicap parking where they park, but also the slots reserved for the police and such. The sign says "24 hour reserved parking."( Bob, speaking "Al's" mind out loud) comments to Sheri in his usual confused fashion, " Who would need to park at the mall for 24 hours, that is ridiculous, and who could afford to with the economy the way it is." :)

My dh is talking more than he ever has too. Used to be if I asked about his day he didn't say much. Now he talks all day about stuff that really doesn't even have anything to do with us. He has become chatty all of a sudden.
ReplyDeleteWhen we see our kids and grandkids he talks and talks. That is good for the grandkids to get to know him. He talks about his years in the service (which he never talked about before) and when he was a kid. I've heard things I never knew! You may get new information!
