This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Livng with Bob and "Al"

Sheri was driving Bob to "work" ( code for Adult Day Center) yesterday morning. It was 7:30 am . There were the most beautiful colors in the sky. Trying to make conversation Sheri says to Bob "Wow, look at that beautiful sunrise". "Al" replies "Yes the colors are beautiful... but wait, how do you know if it is a sunrise... or a sunset?"  :(

  1. Another parallel Sheri - I rang my Mum at 6.30pm and she asked if I usually rang people that early (6.30am). Took me while to realise what she meant and to find out she was convinced it was morning as she'd been asleep and was in her nightie! I was very disturbed. I am changing gear now, and my sister and I are looking into finding a residential facility for her to move to.

  2. Oh Paula I am so sorry it has reached that point for you. But you and your sister are taking good care of her by doing this. Hugs to you.
