This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

In Bob's past there was never an item he could not fix. He knew everything about everything. People would stop Sheri and Bob in the store and say "aren't you the Bob from the hardware store? you helped me fix my blah, blah, blah." Some times the people would stop and ask him questions even when Sheri and Bob were at the grocery store. That is probably why it is so hard for Sheri to see "Al" yesterday standing over the toilet scratching Bob's head, while the toilet keeps making that running sound every few minutes. :(

  1. That's so hard to see when he has been so handy in the past. Sometimes little particles get trapped in that rubber ring that raises up when you flush. If you can turn the water off and flush, you can get in there and clean off that rubber and make sure it is smooth. Then turn water back on. I had to learn how to do that because our toilet would flush itself every so often. Hope that helps. You will learn how to do lots of stuff you never knew before.
