This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

Sheri is very happy that Bob is enjoying his Adult Day Care. Even though he grumbles in the morning asking "How long does he need to to this" when Sheri picks him up he is all smiles and says his day was "just wonderful". He calls it work now, and reminds Sheri of how important good customer service is. "Al"says that in the discussion groups at "the store", they always call on him to participate and "his employees" are always very impressed with his ability. Sheri has been impressed with "his employees" as well, she has never walked in to "Open Circle" in Hopkins, MN, ( part of Augustana Care Corporation ) when the employees have not been engaged with Bob and "Al". They are always genuinely warm and friendly and have a smile on their face. Knowing what Sheri goes through with Bob and "Al" on a daily basis, she knows it takes a special kind of heart to work in this place.
Sheri feels blessed and is grateful for their help and support. :)
