This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

Sheri is amazed sometimes when life and the bible collide
As she goes through this process of applying for help for Bob and "Al"
she is learning she must basically give up everything she has.
Although her house is protected as an asset, with her recent deep pay cut
to keep a job, her own poor management of her money and Bob's social security being used
to pay for the nursing home, she can not afford to keep it.
And all that clutter of life's work, happiness and tears, needs to go away as well.
Sheri was wondering what the purpose of all this is...
And then she went to bible study.

Matthew 6:19
Make no store of wealth for yourselves on earth, where it may be turned to dust by worms and weather, and where thieves may come in by force and take it away.
Luke 12:23
Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.

  1. Could you perhaps talk to an eldercare attorney regarding your assets. They may be able to help you. My heart hurts for the choices you have had to make. I wish you the best.

  2. I'm so sorry this has happened to you. Would an eldercare lawyer be able to help you? I wish you well.
