This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and Al

Well Sheri wanted to make memories
and in fact did just that
and with humor as usual
(now that she is looking back...)

They make German noodles
each year at this time
This year was no different
Friends were coming to dine

So the cookbook is open
the ingredients out
the family is all gathered,
we will have fun, no doubt.

Bob has made this recipe
 for years and years
the girls want to help
aw..the sweet dears

Well they are mixing away
and one hears Al say
 "Now the vanilla goes in"
The girls look dismayed..

"No Dad no vanilla "
"see the recipe's here
 no vanilla goes in
the recipie's clear"

Well the girls are laughing
 and chatting away
Bob and Al are still hearing
the vanilla callling Al's name.

So the girls go to mix the dry  ingredients
with the wet, and Al's says "the vanilla is in"
mumbling under his breathe

The girls freeze in their tracks
not quite sure what to do
And older daughter tells younger daughter
to take to  a whiff .....and be sure.

The girls look at each other
and can not believe, cause
with twelve eggs in the bowl
vanilla is hard to retrieve!

So they go and tell Sheri
"Mom we need you right now"
"You need to distract Dad"
"and another dozen eggs"
as they are laughing out loud!

So while Sheri tells Bob and Al
that her blowdryer is not working
the girls scramble back to the kitchen
to  salvage ...what is left of the noodles  :)

Psalm 107:1 (NIV)

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever."
