This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri is trying hard to fit in to a world where she knows she is married but not in a way that feels complete. She feels divorced but not really, yet she is trying to find a way to get the connections she needs but doesn't know how. Life is short and she wants to live it to the fullest... but not really.

  1. Remember that old question about a tree falling and no one around to hear it? What if a semi flattens you and your car tomorrow. Will Bob and Al understand what happened? Will the home still take care of him like they do now? And then what happens if something happens to Bob in his sleep tonight? Will you understand? Will it change the way you think or act? Sometimes there are no choices. Sometimes things just happen. And if it happens to you, instead of Bob, he will go on. Your question is what if I do something that's maybe not the thing that someone else would do. Life isn't fair. Life is what it is and we do the best we can.

    1. I don't really understand this response. She knows life isn't fair. She's trying to make a life different from before.

  2. i always called this the tweener stage...between being a wife and a caregiver, between being married and being single...it feels like having a foot in different worlds and not having a good fit in either...you're a strong woman and you will find a path that works...Tanis
