This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Daughter number one went to spend some time with her Dad yesterday and she gave him Bob's favorite candy (peanut m&m's). She asked him if he knew what they were and "Al" replied ...marbles. Well, they are both round :)

M & M Peanuts, according to a psychologist who was on the radio from NYC for years, are the healthiest of treats. However, an odd thing just surfaced. One of Bob's fellow tuba players from the high school band also considers that same candy as his favorite. His name is Ollie and he is in a nursing home in PA. He happened to be my best friend in school starting in the first grade. I also favor M & M Peanuts as my favorite candy. Every month I send Ollie 2 bags so he's never without our common like. Wish I could do the same for Bob.
