This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

The three day weekend left Sheri longing for conversation. Then Sheri had what turned out to be a brilliant idea. Sheri loaded up  Bob and "Al" and took them on a picnic yesterday to her favorite hideaway. Bob sat silently as usual. She had set up a predetermined time and then she face timed (sorta like Skype) her Father (also alone on this holiday) from  her cell phone and had him join her for the picnic, from Texas. They shared sandwiches, conversation and enjoyed the view :)
You have to learn to think outside the box, to survive this Alzheimer world.
