This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

When Sheri picked Bob up from "work" (code for Adult Day Center) to go for his epidural, he was concerned that he had not told anybody he was leaving. Sheri reassured him they had told the receptionist he would be gone for the rest of the day. "Al" with a not so sure about that look on his face , replied "well my crew can not do much without me. I have to lead them every step of the way, so if I am not there...NOTHING will get done"  :)
Once a boss, always a boss.

  1. Once known for his consensus building skills, calmness, kindness, wit, and superior problem solving team work, Tom now has daily fits and starts of pushing, grabbing, ordering helpers around (including myself) and making lots of negative observations and/or conclusions. He has worked with so many people through the years that he recognizes a lot of people too. Mostly now they are people he's never met! That's a fun part of this, especially when he gets a chance he tells them (in his own broke language) it's been a long time since he's seen them and it's good to run into them :) A wink from me and most people play along :)
