This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Well it finally happened. Sheri called Bob's only brother for him last evening. She dials the phone for him, and tells him when to talk. This was the first time his brother has not been able to follow what "Al" was saying. "Al" was chattering in the new nonsensical way he has been talking, something Sheri has grown accustom to. Bob's brother was quite taken aback and after ten minutes or so his brother asked to speak to Sheri. She tried to explain that this is just how it is now, and it is okay. "Al" lives in his own little world at "work" (code for Adult Day Center) and he is happy.
We all should try living in the moment, maybe our stress level would go down :)
