This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Bob is living in his own little world, where "work"(code for adult day center), choir, his nuts and bolts and his new shoes are all that matters to him. When Sheri asked him how was his day was, "Al" replied "The guys just couldn't do the nuts and bolts like I do, but they like my shoes and everyone was talking about them (the fashionista that he is). The next thing he says is "but I have not heard a thing about when we will have choir." Now mind you, these are broken sentences said in the way that Sheri understands but not fluid thoughts. Then he says nothing else the rest of the evening.
Sheri is glad Bob can not see "Al", he was not one to brag about his skills at all, and he certainly was not into shoe choice. :)
