This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Today is Daughter number two's 22nd birthday. Sheri had a very bad pregnancy ( a complete placenta previa ) in and out of the hospital several times and both Daughter number 2 and Sheri were at risk. Sheri remembers Bob driving down to the hospital where Sheri had already been for over a month, when the call came that the doctors would have to do an emergency C- Section in the middle of the night. Bob had driven so fast she was sure he had sprouted wings, because he got to her in half the time it should have taken. They were going to do the surgery even though she was 5 and a half weeks early, and the tests had shown she was her lungs were not able to function on their own yet. Bob was never good at expressing himself, and Daughter # 2 only had 15 years of her Dad as Bob,  but Sheri knew his children meant everything to him.
