This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.

Living with Bob and "Al"
Sheri learned quite a few things this weekend. A big one being she has trouble talking about anything... if it's not about Alzheimer's. What a sad state of affairs, that a disease can possess not just the victim, but everyone around them.
I talk about it too much too. People don't understand what we are going through. They don't understand the stages of Alzheimer's. they think the person in normal one day and totally brain dead the next. I talk about the frustration the person goes through not being able to find things, getting lost and not remembering that they asked you that question just two minutes ago. Then the next question is, does it hurt, are they in pain? The public needs to become more aware of the stages of Alzheimer's. they see the movie Notebook and think it is romantic. NOT!
