This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living in with Bob and "Al"

Sheri's church friends did a wonderful job taking care of Bob and "Al" over the weekend. They took Bob to a local apple orchard, he loved it. When they got home and Bob was undressing for bed, "Al" pulled a brochure out of his shirt pocket. Opening it he said "Humm... I don't know what this is?" Sheri replied "Oh it looks like a brochure from the apple orchard you went to today."Al" with conviction in his voice said " I did not go to an apple orchard today." Sheri knowing better than to argue said " Oh, well it is time for bed." Bob climbed into bed and with in seconds turned to Sheri and said "Oh I forgot to tell you I went to the apple orchard today."  "You did? How wonderful! " Sheri replied. Then she heard the story 5 times in next 35 minutes. Sheri has learned to roll with the flow.  :)
